na+CTRL is an activist artist and curator collective that strongly believes that freedom of artistic expression is crucial in times of repression. It plays with and explores the transformative power of artistic expression to resist oppression and marginalization. na+CTRL is inspired by the complexities of human existence, advocating for the deconstruction of rigid boundaries and recognizing the intersectional relation of different kinds of oppression. It invites its reimagined home which is a safe common space to reconstruct the relationship between art and its audience with foster inclusivity.
na+CTRL facilitates communication among people with diverse opinions by deconstructing the dualist relationships between public and private, nature and culture, human and machine, and it serves as a platform for social, cultural, and political interaction. Through this deconstruction of private and public space redefine “home’’ as a not only place but as a realm. Home seems as a state of being, a feeling of belonging that can be found in unexpected spaces and shared experiences rather than the conventional idea of home being defined not only as a private space. This nondualistic home invites more living species to join the space of intersectionality and seek transversal solidarity. na+CTRL rebuilds” home” by creating and using collective memories as archives that enable the stories of alternative sensory experiences.
na+CTRL encourages a reimagining of identities and relationships that are more inclusive, fluid, and emancipatory by creating counter-narratives both by listening and by reaching, it tries to amplify artistic expression that is subversed from dominant norms. Through the exploration of hybrid identities or cultural hybridity, na+CTRL urges the recognition of the interplay between nature, technology, and humanity and advocates for the integration of organic and synthetic elements in art to create a more inclusive and diverse society. Given that, the vision of the cyborg is not a dystopian or dehumanizing one, but rather a celebration of hybridity, multiplicity, and interconnectedness.
