The “home” exhibition was conceived as an interdisciplinary meeting space; It has become a traveling exhibition based in Istanbul, supported by open lectures, artist talks and interactive performance works. Yuva exhibition has been crafted as a nomad showcase series. yuva 1, the first stop of this journey started in kalamış park with a guerilla exhibition. alongside the guerilla exhibition played around the park, Selut and Parham A.G. had acoustic music performances.
the exhibition group with audience, which set out to take the surrounding works of art to the exhibition area, started the fikırwalk. fıkırwalk is a walking carnival that encompasses the loudness, joy and color of us. fıkırwalk is when we wear our finest attire and parade through the streets, claiming what belongs to us in the most unique way possible.
“Home, from the universal to the particular; while working on the themes of ecology, history, etymology, architecture, family, and the body, he considers local/global, settled/homeless, inside/outside, local/immigrant, and safe/insecure. The exhibition aims to capture a collective narrative; it tries to suggest new ways of life with critical representations of domestic and everyday behavior patterns while enabling us to establish relationships between different sources and perspectives.”
the exhibition took place in an alternative circus venue called Subzero, which opened space for the Istanbul underground scene. the artworks displayed especially the collective life and resistance of Istanbul under the umbrella of the concept of home, with the unique interpretation of each artist.
The event ended with the collaboration of underground artists; Fosil, Metz and 3Pillie, embracing the value of dance as a collective movement, while defying the vanishing safe spaces of ours.
